Ahmadinejad on Channel 4

I am so pissed off, I am so livid at the incompetency and lunacy of this Western media, I want to get hold of one of these snobby condescending fartbag journalists, editors and media bosses and pulp them to the wall. Channel 4 has invited President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad not for a debate, not for an interview, but to give an "alternative" Christmas message!

Who will they invite next? Kim-il-Jong? Mugabe? This is rubbing salt on the wounds of all those jailed journalists in Iran, this is an insult to the family of murdered photo-journalist, Zahra Kazemi, this is giving platform to a regime which is persecuting Christian converts in Iran, to a regime which is persecuting religious minorities.

I am tired of all this complacency and deranged madness of the Western media. British people wake up before your media destroys all the privileges you take for granted.

Europe as a whole and England in particular are lost causes. I'd get the hell out of that hellhole if I were you. Move either to Canada or to the US. it is much better on this side of the Atlantic ocean. UK is finished and I am not sad about it. They deserve it.

It seems that you have not really understood the deviousness of — and the cunning plots of the bulldog English after all these years of living among them!
The 'alternative' Christmas message is exactly what it is - If the 'real' good message of Xmas is given by Jesus Christ - then the Alternative would be given by the antichrist - The DEVIL'S ADVOCATE - The Devil incarnate.
How else would you demonise an asshole like Ahmaghi-Nejad more then by letting him speak his bullshit to a world-wide audience and give him enough ropes to hang himself and his Godfathers of evil?
Let him speak up - The whole world knows what he is about and this will only reinforce their negative opinion of him and those that he represents.
Let the Devil speak and let's have him be more demonised then he already is ... that's what I want.
If you remember - Tony Blair used a similar sort of underhand trick and tactic with G.W. Bush at a very critical time in 2003.
Tony Blair (The English) provided the excuse that Bush needed by giving him the fabricated MI5 report that said Saddam was buying yellow cake from Africa and was building WMD's.
The famous report that G.W.Bush quoted and read out in the USA's Senate which convinced the Senators and the American public that the US must attack Iraq to stop Saddam. and gave Bush the green light to attack Iraq.
This is the same devious underhand policy to change the general public's opinion and the doubters and to reinforce their negative opinions against the Mullahs.
The noose is getting tighter.
I like it...
I think Ahmadi-Najes is a fool to have accepted this and that he has truly been tricked into a big trap and — that he does not understand its implications and how it will go down in history as the beginning of the end for his last few miserable months in office.

Imagine if they had broadcast a message from Ayatollah Boroujerdi. A message of peace and freedom from a secular dissident Ayatollah who languishes in jail only because he says religion and politics should be kept apart. But no channel 4 never talks about Boroujerdi and instead gives unchallenged air time to the captor. Sick! SIck SIck SIck!

Regardless of C4's motives, one should not even entertain the thought of broadcasting this moron's message. It is a betrayal to the Brits, a betrayal to humanity, and a betrayal to all the victims who suffered death/torture/exile at the hands of what Ahmadinejad stands for!

I don't buy bahramerad's theory, because even then to broadcast it is in bad taste, as no one should have to listen to this prick.

C4 must pay for this heinous act of betrayal.

Zohreh, Im no fan of Bouroujerdi, he is pushed as the acceptable face of a cruel clerical dictatorship. Iranian students are no longer afraid of calling the Islamic Republic what it is to its face, I dont think you should be shy to do so either. Now that Ahmadinajes has blown all of Iran's Wealth Fund and with oil languishing at $35, I expet that you will soon see the armed thuggish faction of his dicatatorship coming to the fore. Like Burma Iran will be ruled by a Pasdar Junta and the very limited freedom of dissent and expression will be totally crushed. Bouojerid, Montazeri etc are complicit in this criminal regime they are part of the evil that befell Iran never forget that! If they want to dissent then let them throw off their turbans!

Hi there,
I just read that Ahmadinejad is giving a speech, and since he's around, it would be nice if you could ask him what happend to those that raped and killed Zarah Kazemi in Evin prison; Why there are executions of kids in Iran; Why the leadership of the Bahais are imprisoned; Why women are still stoned in Iran.

I also need your help in another matter.
I have an iranian friend that I've disgussed with, and she claims that 'west' supports terrorists by being mouthpieces for various religious nutjobs that spend most of their time killing and persecuring their own people. Of course I rejected that claim, but I lack a good counter argument - hope you can advice me...how can I explain that a leader of a country that have produced perhaps a million refugees and thousinds of death citizens are invited to speak?

Its really sad to watch the UK fall into the trap of the mollahs. England, in particular, has gone through an intellectual dichotomy: on the one hand they produced great minds like John Locke, whose philosophies fabricated the blueprint for western democratic values. On the other hand, they're bending over way too much for Islamists who intend to corrode those values.

That is Europe's problem. Either they are way too relaxed or way too paranoid.

However, I don't think the political sentiment is exactly homogeneous and fatal. For instance, the new wave of European secularism (such as that being promoted by biologist Richard Dawkins, author of 'God Delusion') is taking a defensive stance against Islamism and has distanced itself from the 'old secularism' (by that I mean left-influenced).

This is a good fresh intellectual medium, not trapped in the domains of the neocon's far right or the socialist's far left. Its exactly this kind of apolitical rational and enlightened thinking that we need to defeat the toxicity of religious fundamentalist ideology, let alone Islamism.

So definitely, I would say the old secular/left movement has splintered and hopefully we will see the effect of this philosophical divergence reflected in the battle against Islamism.

Don't feel so unlucky, if you love Ahmadi-nejad so much but feel unlucky that you live in the UK. You can easily convert to Shiite Islam, accept the state interpretation of the Shiite Islam to the letter, become an Iranian citizen and go and live there and then see how much of Ahmadinejad's lovely kind words match the reality.

If you look at Luke Johnson's page, he introduces himself as an unrepentant capitalist. What does that mean? It means he is unrepentant about earning a buck no matter what the consequences? As long as his bank account balance goes up by a penny he will have no regret at what suffering he is causing.

For that reason, hosting AN's alternative message he would know would be controversial and attract lost of viewers and sell lots of advertising. It is up to the commercial companies now to boycott Channel 4 or for viewers to write to their MPs and demand Luke Johnson's resignation.

I found it as a good thing that ahmadinejad accepted this offer. in a democracy even you enemy should be able to speak. His speech was not a threat but a good thing. he has the right to give this speech and im glad he did.

Anonymous has a point: If you wanted to stop this you should have focused your efforts on Channel 4's advertisers, not Channel 4.

I mean, the Foreign Office issued an statement essentially against having Ahmadinejad's message broadcasted - Wouldn't that carry more weight than an e-mail or a phone call from Winston and co.?

Fortunately for UK citizens, the Foreign Office doesn't control the flow of information, unlike in the IRI. Otherwise, why would we need to fund all that other bullshit Persian media. If Barack Obama could get on Jam-e-Jam and talk to the Iranian people directly, why wouldn't he? But I digress...

You should have focused on the advertisers and threatened them with a boycott.

Nonetheless, the speech wasn't harmful at all, but it was the usual religious garbage. Yet, I guess Christmas is a religious holiday, so why not?

President Ahmadinejad is possibily one of the only global leaders talking sense and he is also the first in line for an Iraq style invasion. It is obviously US, here in the West that are evil.

They have the death sentence in Iran. In the UK we provide murderers with 3 square meals a day and let them out 10 years later. Beats being on the dole for 10 years.

Not saying I know much about President Ahmadinejad but what I have seen I like.

Only thing that I think is unjust is his attutude toward gays. However, because I dont like gays (except cute lesbians) I think i can overlook that flaw.

I think President Ahmadinejad talks fundementals, whilst brown talks sh1t, I mean about fundementals. In fact President Mahmoud Ahmadinner brings back the meaning of the word fundementals.

The message is simple, the West supports the Islamic Republic. Humanizing the good servants is the duty of a benevolent master. You are rightfully angry, seeing the monstrous oppressor glorified, when the daily injustice is overlooked. I don't believe it reported the backlash that is swelling against islamism, evidenced by a mosque being burned down in Lincoln and a mosque and muslims being attacked in Southend.
Channel4 gives space and time to Ahmadinejad's ravings, but censors peaceful dissent against dictators by Azarmehr and others.
'Channel 4 jihad' should be this media outlet's new name.

5,000 Kurds were gassed in Halabjeh by Saddam, did you anything?

More than 5000 Iranian political prisoners were murdered in two months, did you do anything?

Thousadns of Chechens, men, women and children were slaughtered by the Russians, did the veins in your neck swell?

Shall I go on with the list? Even the Fatah faction in Palestine condemned Hamas's ending of ceasefire. Hamas have enough friends to come out into the streets for them. You worry about the issues that relate to your people.

You did oppose the removal of Saddam Hussein did you not? Does that not mean that you wanted Saddam to remain in power. Yes sure of course you would have been CRITICAL of his excesses and would have left your comments on some blog somewhere. Big deal!
