The peaceful protest was against the corruption and the stranglehold of the financial mafia on Iran's economy resulting in the deteriorating economic conditions for ordinary people. See how baton wielding guards on motor bikes smash the old man in the crowd on to the ground. It is also interesting to see the sheer hatred of people against the troops and how the crowds jeer the guards and call them bootlickers of the mafia.

I think it was you who said thank god we have youtube and dont have to rely on BBC correspondents for film footage! Thank god indeed that these crimes can now be recorded by ordinary folk.
You can see the old man standing idly in the beginning of the film just clapping and looking around — then when the motorcycle riders and their club welding outrider storm troopers race among the crowed — all the young people run off and of course these animals find nobody to hit other that the old , the women and the infirm.
Death to the Fascist Islamic Bloody Republic of death and destruction.
And Bar Man Kids of this world who are the beneficiary and supporter of these idiots.
So how can we know when this happened? It was added to youtube 4weeks ago, but did you read about it in some publication?

عصر جمعه هفتم تیرماه، بیش از ده هزار نفر از مردم مشهد به صورت خوجوش با حضور در پارک ملت (روبروی دانشگاه فردوسی) اعتراضاتشان را به وضعیت معیشتی و اقتصادی خود اعلام نمودند.
با وجود تدابیر شدید امنیتی و حضور گسترده نیروهای نظامی در محدوده پارک ملت، بلوار وکیل آباد، امامت و سجاد مشهد بین ساعات 17 تا 19 چندین هزار نفر از مردم در حدفاصل سه راه آزادشهر و میدان آزادی تظاهرات نمودند.
هر چند این اعتراض از انسجام و سازماندهی منظمی برخوردار نبود اما مردم به صورت خودجوش در نقاط مختلف پارک ملت تجمع می نمودند و با سردادن شعارهایی چون "مفسد اقتصادی افشا باید گردد" "نیروی انتظامی حمایت حمایت" و شعار دانشجویان "ما زن و مرد جنگیم بجنگ تا بجنگیم" اعتراض خود را اعلام می نمودند.
بارها در هنگام بازداشت شرکت کنندگان در این تجمع مردم با سر دادن شعار و هو کردن نیروهای امنیتی جو اختناق و سکوت حاکم را می شکستند به طوری که سه بار مامورین نظامی برای متفرق کردن مردم مجبور به استفاده از گاز اشک آور شدند.
ناآرامی ها در پارک ملت تا ساعت 21 ادامه داشت و تا نیمه های شب در محدوده ی پارک حکومت نظامی اعلام نشده حاکم بود و تجمعات چند نفری هم با برخورد مواجه میشد.

من اهل مشهد هستم و از مراحم ملاهادر حال حاضر با همسر وفرزندم آواره غربتيم امروز در تماس تلفني که با خانواده در مشهد داشتيم به ما اطلاع دادند که 4نفر در درگيريهاي روز جمعه کشته شده اند که يک نفر از آنان در آزادشهر زندگي ميکرده و الان براي او حجله بسته اند
