The above statement is not made by some secular Iranian opposition figure, it is in fact made by Ayatollah Tabasi, himself a figure straight from the dark ages with a caveman mentality. Yet even Ayatollah Tabasi regards the takeover of Iran by the Hojjatieh sect, alarming and a step back.
Despite all this, there are so many individuals posing as intellectuals and so many so-called "progressive" organisations in the West that somehow still want to justify the Islamic Republic as an acceptable and legitimate government. They themselves however, as Ayatollah Tabasi phrases it so well, have a "frozen intellect".

Islamic Republic has enjoyed the support of the Nazis in Germany, the likes of Russian Fascist Zhirnovsky, European union officials, Democrats and Liberals in the US and the Left wing groups like the SWP etc. An amazing mish mash of extremism, ignorance and short-sightedness.
Shiite Taliban taken over in Iran 29 yrs ago and this criminal was/is part of it.

دعوای بين آخوند ها پيشتر بر سر بالای منبر رفتن و روضه خواندن و دو ريال پول در آوردن بود. آن زمان ها هم آخوند های رقيب به همديگر انواع و اقسام اتهامات را مي زدند و بر سر هم دمپايی مي کوبيدند. حالا نيز آخوند طبسی که هم خود و هم آقازاده در فساد مالی شهرة آفاق هستند از ترس از دست دادن امپراتوری آستان قدس و محدود شدن زندگی انگلی اش خواسته است که از رقيبان زهر چشم بگيرد و آنان را به انجماد فکری متهم می کند. بايد به اين آخوند يادآور شد که: حاج آقا، فکر و عقل تمام شما آخوندها منجمد است. اين را ما ايرانيان هزار و چهار صد سال است که می دانيم. بساطتان را جمع کنيد و از زندگی ما گم شويد. ما نه محافظه کارتان را می خواهيم، نه مترقی تان را، نه چپتان را، نه راستتان را، نه آخوند مصباح را, نه آخوند طبسی را، نه خامنه ای را، نه خاتمی را، نه رفسنجانی را، نه جنتی را. ما آخوند نمی خواهيم.ـ
