Iranian Girl Resists Arrest by Morality Police in Oroumiyeh

Footage of an Iranian girl who resists arrest by the morality police in Oroumiyeh, North West Iran. She was being harassed by the morality police for showing her ankles. At the end of the footage she is heard shouting 'You have destroyed our country':

She is very, very brave, fighting off 3 wild savages!
She should have kicked him you-know where!

It is an outrage that the immorality police do not go after the rapists of people!!

I am glad to see that Potkin's fans endorse violence against the police.

However, like Ahmadinejad, I don't think people she be spied on and harassed for their style of dress.

That is one of the looney policies of the supreme cultural council.

These are scumbags of the earth.

Yeah, the sheer idiocy to commit brutality! No doubt they would've carted the poor girl off never to be seen again. These so-called morality Police are just given the green light to cruise for their own lustfully depraved murderous content! You can tell by the honking horns and the gathering people that they're all an angry coil ready to explode! And one day soon sufficient numbers just will!

The vast majority of Iranians are not arrested or confronted by the morality police (gasht-e-ershad).

As I say, you are completely deluded about the situation in Iran. If your main source of information on the country is this blog, you will have a completely distorted picture.

Btw, are you by any chance friends with Timothy Garton-Ash? You sound a lot like the Oxford don.

Is this Reza Esfandiari??

P.s. I certainly don't condone violence. But it's funny. Wasn't the bedrock of The Islamic Republic built on violence? I.e. the Revolution through the back door? And doesn't the regime also carry out the most violent acts against it's own citizens under the warped auspices of religion. Or should I just say it's own new Shah-like power base? I.e. The Revoluntionary Guard taking over enterprise by muscle. The Basiji paid to intimidate and persecute. The prisons full of the most skilled exponents of psychological and physical torture? The Police idly standing by as regime thugs vandalise and terrorise certain sections of the community? Ha, as far as I can tell, the whole apparatus is seeded and soaked in the misery of violence! And this is why the vast majority of the Iranan people now want a change! After the Shah and the other side of the same coin in Khamanei, they want to breathe the air and see the sun again rather than constantly live under this oppressive black veil of menace and threats. And that's why the current regime behaves like it is! It can no longer engage in decent dialogue or an intelligent rational. It can only behave like some wounded cornered animal lashing out. The blind aggessive animal instinct. Because once again it's foundation, lifeblood and now even it's very livelihood IS based on - yes you guessed it - VIOLENCE! And it is ACTUALLY from this that a lot of Iranian's now divorce themselves from! Not the culture nor the good sophisciated nature of the people. But rather from the current thought-police lynch mob based on the Mafiaoza/Stalinistic code of violent practise!

All revolutions are born in blood - look at Robespierre and the reign of terror in France.

Dear Reza. Thank you for acquainting me to the intellectual like's of an Oxford Don. Nope - surprise surprise. I'm just a normal bloke that works in a factory changing moulds. Just goes to show how assumption and interpretation can jump to conclusions and cloud the reason eh? And no, my source of Iran isn't just this blog. It's many sources both personal with Iranian friends and the widest selection of news I can find that can slip the fearful and cowardly censorship net of the current regime! If you say I'm influenced by the Western media, then all I can say is that the Western media actually does a poor job in reporting what really goes on in Iran. But then again, everything is strictly controlled and sanctioned by the Khamanei/Ahmandinejad cohorts isn't it? Just like Press TV. Always on the side of presenting Ahmandindejad in the best possible light, even if he does make friends with the likes of Mugabee because he hates whites and Britain. Assad - because he inflicts the same kind of tyrannies on his own people. Hezbolluh because they're great at buying Revoluntionary Guard arms. Kim il Song - Because hey - he may outlaw religion, but at least he hates America! And likewise Chevez! Islamic Republic? Tut! What Islamic Republic when it so readily and chaeply sells it's soul simply because it's run by a load of self-interested bandits who conviniently ignore and distort the very Charters and rules within it's original Islamic Constitution! And yet YOU of course still uphold and defend them! So, if just a simple factory worker can see this, then Christ! No wonder YOU panic! Because the normal hard working populance of Iran can bloody well see it too! So please Reza - for once in your life be truly objective. Be closer to spirit rather than spite. Be a proper human being working for humankind. And don't keep looking for excuses and doctored stats to defend the undefensible. I respect any belief, edict, idelogology and religion that advocates true peace, justice, equality and mercy. We're all brothers and sisters on this tiny speck of a planet! But where can I find ANY such virtues or broad open minded philosophies in the current black vulture regime that dares to hold an otherwise great nation of the Earth like Iran hostage to personal greed, ego and bigotries! Peace bro...

Reza, you are completely wrong! Though this girl's level of resistance may be an isolated case, the fact she was stopped most certainly is not. The majority of young girls in Iran have countless anecdotes of run-ins with the "morality police". It's not even just the girls, i know guys who have been stopped for merely spiking their hair (apparently a satanic style of sorts!). Have you even been to Iran in the past 10 years?

The fact you fall for the most elementary of populist political spin is further proof that your rhetoric is nothing but a farcical heterodoxy....

@Reza,

"The vast majority of Iranians are not arrested or confronted by the morality police (gasht-e-ershad)"

Is that really the point? CLEARLY the majority of people are not confronted by a MUCH smaller force than the entire population. It's simple math.

I think the real issue is that a "Morality Patrol" exists. Wouldn't you say so?

One person or a million - it's simply immoral. So I would suggest you stop trying to rationalize it, because really, YOU end up sounding like a deluded idiot when you do.

PEace,
Barmakid

It's kind of Ironic, huh Reza? The vehicle created to enforce "morality" is itself immoral.
