Eight and Half Years for Majid Tavakoli

Majid Tavakoli, the popular Iranian student leader who was arrested on 7th December, Iran's National Student Day, has been sentenced to eight and half years imprisonment.

The regime published photoshop images of Majid dressed in a chador after his arrest, with the intention of humiliating him, which only backfired and showed their misogynistic mind set. .

Majid received five years for 'group gathering and collusion', one year for spreading propaganda against the regime, two years for insulting the Supreme Leader, six months for insulting the president, which all add up to eight and half years.

On top of his sentence, he faces a five year ban on any political activity and a five year travel ban out of Iran.

Next time when Ahmadinejad is made to look like a celebrity by some Western media anchorman and claims there is 'Total Freedom' in Iran, perhaps the presenters can educate themselves with the facts about Majid Tavakoli and Ahmad Zeidabadi and many more like them beforehand.

Such a courageous student. Such a despicable regime.

It is rare to see Mr Potkin Azarmehr out and about at the demonstrations, and the only time he has voiced his opinion is when there is something to gain for himself, namely media coverage.

I suggest to him that it is actually he who is in hiding and working towards his own political gain. It is a shame to see so many of our brave young Iranians follow in this cowards footsteps. Potkin sends out his own foot soldiers and he hides behinds the scenes, it is a shame, so I don’t think you have the right to insult anyone else for standing back, when you as a self proclaimed leader are not on the front line..

If potkin has nothing to hide then he should be out with the people, come rain or snow not just a back seat Revolutionary.

Anonymous,

What the hell is wrong with you?

Don't worry about him Sohrab. His name is Reza Sangsari. He has nothing going for him and suffers from chronic genetic disorder of envy!

If indeed Mr Anonymous is Reza Sangsari then I'm disappointed considering most times I've gone you have been there too including outside the Syrian Embassy! Don't really understand what his problem is. This kind of stupid bickering achieves nothing. Grow up.

Amir,

His problem is that he thinks going to Press TV on Neda's birthday is an attempt by me to attract more media publicity for MYSELF! For that reason he has asked people to gather outside the embassy, which is closed on Saturday, at exactly the same time on the same day! Childish!

The invite for going outside Press TV on Neda's birthday to tickle teh conscience of Press TV employees was in fact made by Andreas Moser. But I guess some people will do anything to make sure the real interests of the Islamic Republic remain in tact. This is the 4th time Sangsari has deliberately gone out of his way to turn effective protests into time wasting.

And never mind about the protests since the elections, when we were out there from years before Sangsar was sucking his thumb.

Any way I think to have such discussions under this post which is about Majid Tavakoli is really inappropriate.
